Ann R. Pokalsky

Ann R. Pokalsky focuses her practice in the areas of biochemical and biological sciences.  A large part of her practice centers on foreign and domestic patent prosecution, and she has obtained numerous patents for clients in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Ms. Pokalsky represents clients ranging from small start-up companies and universities to multinational corporations.  She counsels clients on a wide variety of intellectual property topics, including global patent filings, prosecution strategies, and patent portfolio review and management.  In addition, she prepares patentability, validity, freedom to operate, and infringement opinions, and drafts licensing and material transfer agreements.

Ms. Pokalsky has extensive experience in a wide range of biological and biochemical-based technologies, including recombinant DNA, gene expression and regulation, biologics, drugs and drug formulations, diagnostics, immunotherapies, and enzyme replacement therapies. She has additional expertise in plant/agricultural biotechnology.

Prior to beginning her legal career, Ms. Pokalsky worked in the biotechnology industry, and has coauthored articles that published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry, Nucleic Acids Research, and Journal of Cellular Biochemistry.
